Ugo Ezema, MD is a triple board-certified pulmonologist and critical care physician, host of The Last Zebra podcast, and author of the Doc Populi newsletter. He practices medicine and writes at the intersection of clinical care, culture, and the human experience.
Dr. Ugo Ezema is a pulmonologist and critical care physician based in New Orleans, Louisiana. He trained at Tulane and practiced at Ochsner Health and Terrebonne General Hospital before building a portfolio of ventures — Auxo Health, Auxo Code, and MDX — that use AI to serve practicing clinicians. He hosts The Last Zebra, a long-form interview podcast with physicians whose careers do not fit the template. His weekly newsletter, Doc Populi, is written for anyone who has ever wanted a doctor to just answer the question honestly. His motto — Dum Spiro, Spero — is Latin for "while I breathe, I hope."
